Bio:
Josephine Zgheib is a social activist of many social campaigns and a board member of the city council of Kfardebian since 2010. Elected for the second time in 2016 as a local leader for women, she developed and implemented environmental and ecotourism programs and launched the women’s development prototype bureau in her city that now expanded to 12 bureaus across Lebanon.

After a two-years backpacking trip in 45 countries in the world, spreading messages of peace and acceptance, she founded the Beity Association and Auberge Beity in 2004, a hostel for youth and an incubator for activities in social development and rural tourism. Zgheib is also a young social entrepreneur and an activist that took part in aiding people after the explosion of the Beirut Port on August 4, 2020. She too part in many rights campaign as well including, but not limited to, “Badna Wazira”,”Beitik Baytak” and more.

Zgheib is a certified trainer in communication, leadership, social accountability, fighting corruption, and citizenship. She is also the general secretary of the Lebanese youth hostel federation since 2009 and the vice president of the Arab affiliated network for social accountability ANSA, a network of activists from seven MENA countries funded by the world bank. She is also a board member in the Lebanon eco movement network of more than 60 NGO that protects the Lebanese environment, and lastly a board member in MEPI-LAA (middle east partnership initiative Lebanese Alumni) association.

Zgheib, who now runs as a parliamentary candidate for the 2022 elections, holds a BA in physical therapy from Notre dame of Lebanon paramedical university, and a Masters degree in leadership and management from the chambers of commerce, industry and agriculture Beirut, and a PHD on local development from Birmingham university in UK
